Helena-West Helena
School District. On March 10, 2008, the Arkansas
Insurance Department continued Commissioner Bowman’s goal of donating
technology equipment to our public schools when that equipment is still
serviceable, but no longer adequate to meet Insurance Department operational
requirements. Helena-West
Helena School District Superintendent Rudolph Howard received eight complete
computer work stations (monitor, keyboard, mouse and central processing unit)
and two notebook computers for the high school EAST Program. EAST stands for Environmental And Spatial
Technologies, an educational program which teaches high school students to
use technology to solve problems, obtain information, and gain experience working
with issues in their communities. www.eastinitiative.org The
Arkansas Department of Education provides the Insurance Department with
candidate schools for the donations. |

non-profit organization whose goal is to “help our soldiers serving overseas
call home.” Lavaca
School District. On March 7, 2007, the Department
donated twelve complete computer work stations to the Lavaca School
District. Ms. Anne Sneed, Special
Projects Coordinator for the district, worked with our Department to obtain
the computers for the district’s teaching staff, as it had used all its
