GOVERNOR BEEBE DECLARES SEVEN COUNTIES DISASTER AREAS AFTER RECENT STORMS

LITTLE ROCK - Governor Mike Beebe today declared Baxter, Benton, Carroll, Franklin, Johnson, Marion, and Washington Counties state disaster areas due to damage caused by tornadoes and severe storms earlier this week.

In addition, Governor Beebe has released $50,000 from the Governor's Disaster Fund to help cover the immediate response costs from these storms.

The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency have a team on the ground in Johnson County today and will visit other counties soon. These declarations are separate from others made for storms and floods over the past five weeks. Assessments related to those disasters continue as well.

Arkansans affected by these most recent storms can contact the State Emergency Operations Center at 1-888-683-2336 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to report damage information.
