$2.38 million found so far in 2018
LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas Insurance Commissioner Allen Kerr today released the following statement announcing that $3,690,309 has been found for Arkansans since the November 2016 launch of the Arkansas Insurance Department’s (AID) and National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ (NAIC) Life Insurance Policy Locator:
“Thanks to our partnership with the NAIC on developing the Life Insurance Policy Locator, the Arkansas Insurance Department has been able to match 240 Arkansans with over $3.69 million in lost or misplaced life insurance policies or annuities since November 2016. While following up on the finances of a deceased loved one can be an emotional experience, we encourage all Arkansans to log in to see if departed loved ones have left behind previously unknown policies or annuities.”
Through August 20, 400 requests have been made by Arkansans through the Life Insurance Policy Locator in 2018, resulting in 127 matches worth $2,380,064 in lost of misplaced life policies.
AID and the NAIC developed the locator to provide search capabilities to help find lost life insurance policies and annuities and launched it in November 2016. Across the country, nearly 77,000 consumers have conducted searches since the policy locator was launched, recovering over $306.4 million in life insurance benefits.
