Arkansas Sees Increase in Insurance Agents/Agencies
10.8% increase in agent licensure from 2017 to 2018
LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas Insurance Commissioner Allen Kerr today released the following statement announcing a 10.8% increase in insurance agent licensure in 2018 over the previous year and further increases in the licensing of insurance business entities:
“I am very proud of the record of new insurance jobs and businesses the Arkansas Insurance Department has had through my first four years as Commissioner. It is a testament to the ‘open for business’ culture Governor Hutchinson has created in Arkansas. The Department will continue to promote our state as a welcoming home for the insurance industry and a land of opportunities for new insurance agents.”
At the end of 2018, the Arkansas Insurance Department licensed 135,291 insurance producers and adjustors, an increase over the 122,053 at the end of 2017. The amount of resident licenses also increased to 20,560 from 20,308.
Since the end of 2014, the amount of licensed producers and adjustors has jumped from 87,380, an increase of 54.8%.
Licensed business entities also increased with 9,723 licensed as of December 31—a 4.9% increase of the 9,269 licensed at the end of 2017.
Since the end of 2014, the amount of licensed business entities has increased 39.6% from 6,967.
