AR SHIIP Counselor Initial Training

Prospective counselors are required to attend training to learn about the AR SHIIP program and the counseling performed.

Requirements can be found on the SHIIP Training Courses – Initial page.

  1. Applicant completes online Pre-Training and registers for Courses 1- 4 Basic Training
  2. Must also complete Special Topics Courses

You should study each course and then complete the exam for that course.

AR SHIIP require these courses for all New AR SHIIP counselors. Experienced counselors may also access for enhancements on counselor training.

Counselor Annual Update Training

AR SHIIP counselors are required to complete Annual Refresher Training each year after their initial training year to maintain certification as an active counselor. This includes all previously certified AR SHIIP counselors. This does NOT include counselors who completed their initial Basic training in the current year.

NOTE: If a trained SHIIP counselor fails to complete the Annual Update Training in one grant year, they may be required to complete the Initial Counselor training to re-certify as an active SHIIP counselor.
