Legal Division
The Legal Division represents AID, participating in numerous investigations, market conduct examinations, drafting legislation, rules, bulletins, directives, legal opinions, and investigating consumer complaints. Division attorneys represent the Commissioner and AID staff in lawsuits or other proceedings, administrative hearings and court appeals pertaining to alleged licensee insurance code or rule violations by a licensee, and insurance company acquisitions, mergers, reinsurance agreements and similar transactions. Prior to each Legislative Session, the Division prepares the recommendations of the Commissioner as to amendments or supplementation of laws affecting insurance and as to matters affecting the Department to be addressed in the next Legislative Session.
